Whakamaru Penstock Scaffold
Waikato Scaffolders was awarded this job to provide scaffold access to the Whakamaru Penstock 1m above the abutment. Dean Wiki of Waikato Scaffolders explained “our challenge was to provide good access.”
Scaffold from the bottom
“There were 4-5 different angles being the station house wall, abutment top, dam wall and circular penstock. Access was from the station house window, and our options were to either erect scaffold from the bottom of the dam wall (20m below) or to bridge across and down the abutment using the Layher Allround modular system”.
Scaffold safely
“Our preferred design was to bridge across and down the abutment using Layher Allround as this allowed our team to erect and dismantle the scaffold safely, as it was done by completing individual platforms with guardrail protection a stage at a time. Overall this scaffold project was a success and we reached all our customers and our own goals”.
