Wallingford Bridge Strengthening
L ocated in Hawkes Bay, the Wallingford Bridge project required smart, efficient scaffolding solutions to support essential strengthening and guardrail installation. Rocket Scaffolding, working with Layher systems, provided the access needed for contractors to safely complete their work under complex conditions.
Safe, Practical Solutions for a Time-Sensitive Upgrade
Todd Price of Rocket Scaffolding shared the team’s approach: “With a crew of six, we set up and dismantled a 60-meter scaffold in 570-man hours, including daily travel time. Most of the scaffold was built from the ground up, with 16 meters suspended from the bridge’s underside. The ground section allowed for quick assembly, while the hanging section was specially designed to avoid flood risks.”
For Todd’s clients, this setup meant streamlined access without interrupting other crucial activities on the bridge. “We hung the scaffolding from selective points, leaving room for the structural work to continue without interference. By creating a braced box section below the working deck, we kept contact points to a minimum,” Todd explained.
With Layher’s innovative, reliable systems, Rocket Scaffolding ensured safe, uninterrupted progress for Wallingford Bridge – a solution that kept all project teams moving forward efficiently. Thank you to Rocket Scaffolding for sharing these photos.
