Suspended Rail Bridge
Active Platforms has recently changed its name to Above Scaffolding because, as Managing Director Brian Whelan explains “We feel it more clearly reflects our vision and reputation”. This hanging scaffold installation, erected for Sydney Trains over Salt Pan Creek at Riverwood, NSW, is a case in point. The scaffold had to provide fully contained access to the steel bridge girders and track level walkways while allowing for the girders and walkway on one side to be completely removed and replaced.
Strength-to-weight ratio
Bring on the Skyhooks! Owen McGuigan, Above Scaffolding’s senior design engineer explains “The versatility and strength-to-weight ratio of Layher Allround, in conjunction with our custom suspension components, and Layher’s Aluminium lattice beams creates more possibilities when tackling these challenging projects”.
Quality and workmanship
The Sydney Trains’ project team are more than happy with the solution. In the words of Ben Schipp, Sydney Trains’ Project Engineer: “Thank you for your effort with this project. I’ve had a lot of good feedback regarding the design, quality and workmanship of the scaffold. Furthermore, your guys on site did a great job.”
Thank you to Brian Whelan for use of these photos.
