Department of Corrections
Housing New Zealand is partnering with the Department of Corrections to repair 150 earthquake damaged houses over the next five years. The programme is a joint initiative to contribute to the Christchurch residential rebuild and assist with the reintegration of prisoners and community based offenders into society by providing them with valuable trade skills.
Prison Construction Yard
The houses will be transported to the Department of Correction’s Rolleston Prison Construction Yard, which was recently opened by Prime Minister John Key, for repair and refurbishment.
Protection system
The Department of Corrections approached Layher to supply Allround modular scaffolding and the Keder Roof weather protection system. Layher has also supported the initiative by providing familiarisation training to the Prison Construction Yard Instructors who will in turn train the offenders.
Thanks to the Department of Corrections for the use of this photo.
