Wellington Rail Network Upgrade

Working to a tight deadline over the holiday period, the scaffold was completed ahead of schedule. Fulton Hogan John Holland Joint Venture (FHJHJV), KiwiRail, Scafit and other subcontractors present on site worked collaboratively to ensure the work was carried out to a high standard of quality and safety.

Integrating safety

With safety being of paramount importance, particularly while working in the rail corridor, Scafit’s focus on integrating safety into everything we do ensured a successful outcome for all stakeholders concerned. As part of the Wellington Rail Network upgrade initiative, Scafit was engaged by the FHJHJV to provide access scaffolding to Bridge 28 in Lower Hutt, spanning over 250m across the Hutt River.

Engineering support

The scaffold was constructed from the ground at each end and hung from the bridge over-water, using a proprietary Layher Scaffolding System with a Scafit design including trusses between the bridge spans. Engineering support was provided by Layher to ensure it met the required loading capacity.
