Allround Scaffolding Pedestrian Bridge
Brazier Scaffolding was asked to supply this temporary pedestrian bridge which enabled access over a washed-out culvert near Doubtful Sound in the South Island. Built using Layher’s Allround modular scaffolding system, the pedestrian bridge spanned a total of 20m, was 1.09m wide and secured using ballast at each end. Ramps were also installed each end using Layher’s steel decks, and the bridge was certified by a local engineer to support up to 6 people at one time.
Freestanding bridge structure
Mike Russell of Brazier Scaffolding commented, “fortunately we were able to have additional base jacks to support the bridge, minimising the span and providing better stability for the freestanding bridge structure. We also managed to have a Hiab available [to lift the bridge into position], which saved using the 20T digger. Thanks to Layher for the design support.”
